Forza Horizon 3's New Expansion Pack Will Let You Race On An Ice-Covered Lake

Just when you thought Forza Horizon 3 couldn’t get any more action-packed, a new expansion pack has just been released, and it’s promising a snowball’s worth of excitement. The pack is officially called “Blizzard Mountain,” and as the name so obviously suggests, it’s centered around experiencing the very best (and worst) of what winter racing is all about. New race cars racing in snow-covered environments? Sounds like a blast to us.

At the heart of this new pack is the change of scenery it provides from the base game’s Australian outback setting. There’s even a frozen lake in the game that players can race on, which should amplify the excitement of also having over 50 new events and challenges, including Hill Climb, Descent, and Blizzard race events, all of which are included in the Blizzard Mountain expansion pack.

If these new features and events aren’t enough, let’s not forget about the new cars that are also included in the pack. There are eight of them, and man, these eight cars are the stuff of winter racing dreams. Start with the oldest of the eight and you have a 1966 Ford F-100 Flareside Trophy Truck from Abatti Racing, the same truck driven by former NASCAR and off-road racer Robby Gordon. Other classic pieces featured in the Blizzard Mountain pack include two classic Lancia racers, namely the 1975 Lancia Stratos HF Group 4 and fire-spitting 1985 Lancia Delta S4 Group B. I know none of these cars are suited for winter racing, but I don’t care. The thought of driving the Stratos on a frozen lake is already getting me excited.

A trio of modern-day race cars from various racing disciplines are also part of the pack, including its crown jewel: Ken Block’s 2016 Ford GYMKHANA 9 Focus RS RX. This is the same car that served as the star of Block’s action-packed Gymkhana 9 short film. Block’s Focus RS RX is also joined by some notable names in the racing scene, particularly off road racer RJ Anderson’s 2016 #37 Polaris RZR-Rockstar Energy Pro 2 truck and Travis Pastrana’s 2016 Subaru #199 WRX STI VT15r rally racer.

Completing the eight cars included in the game is the 2016 Nissan Titan Warrior Concept and a hidden barn find vehicle that gamers are invited to look for within the wintry landscape of the Blizzard Mountain expansion pack.

It goes without saying that the Blizzard Mountain expansion pack is a ball of fun. The whole pack is already available for $19.99, although players who already have the Expansion Pass can get it at no added cost.
