Although not as iconic and long-running as the Suburban, the Chevrolet Tahoe has been one of the company’s most important nameplates in the U.S. ever since it replaced the K5 Blazer in 1992. In its fourth-generation since 2014, the Tahoe shares its underpinning s with the Suburban, Silverado, and Cadillac Escalade, just to name a few, and sports a fresh exterior design, a more modern interior, and Chevy’s latest infotainment system. Under the hood, it comes with a potent 5.3-liter V-8 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and either two- or four-wheel drive. Having received mild upgrades for each new model year, the Tahoe gained Chevy’s already familiar Midnight Package for 2017.
Launched alongside the Suburban Midnight Edition, the Tahoe joins the Silverado, Colorado, Equinox, and Trax as a part of the brand’s Midnight Edition family. This special package debuted back in August 2015 on the Colorado pickup truck and quickly expanded to include no fewer than six different nameplates. The reason for that, according to Chevrolet, is that the Midnight Edition is among its fastest-selling special editions. As America’s best-selling full-size SUV, the Tahoe was also in line to to get Midnight Edition upgrade, and it finally happened for the 2017 model year.
The package is pretty much identical to those offered on other nameplates, adding a "murdered-out" look to the SUV. It’s also available on two trim levels in order to satisfy customers looking for either a large and comfortable people hauler or a more off-road-oriented machine.
