Aston Martin Builds Unique, Yacht-Inspired Vanquish Volante; Costs as much as a Yacht

Remember the bespoke Aston Martin Vanquish Volante inspired by the AM37 powerboat that the British firm unveiled in late 2016? I certainly do and I remember wondering about how much such a car would cost. Well, Aston Martin just unveiled pricing information and said the car is actually available for purchase. Although it was initially believed that it was commissioned by a customer, the one-off convertible is actually for sale at Aston Martin Reading, which is part of the H.R. Owen Group and costs a whopping £236,950.

That’s a £29,000 premium over the stock Vanquish Volante and makes the AM37 as expensive as an actual yacht. For instance, a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey boat from 2015 will set you back £225,000 and comes with three cabins, two showers, and all the room you need for a party away from the shore. Not to mention that you save some £10,000 for supplies Granted, the boat has only 75 horsepower and won’t get you anywhere in a hurry, but the Vanquish Volante barely has room for four.

Anyway, making this unique grand tourer special is the bespoke Concours Blue paint on the outside and the Q-exclusive semi-aniline leather upholstery in Chestnut Tan and White Essence on the inside. Built to celebrate Aston Martin’s partnership with Quintessence Yachts, the AM37 Vanquish Volante also features Q Conker Saddle carpets with Q-exclusive Conker Saddle overmats, Q Rosewood High Gloss Fascia, Q Fender and Buckle Badges with white enamel infill, a full Q matching tailored luggage set, and a special plaque in honor of its status as a one-of-one model, reading: “specially commissioned by Q to commemorate the AM37 yacht launch – 1 of 1.”

Pretty fancy, huh?

Under the hood, this Vanquish Volante is standard business, featuring the familiar 5.9-liter V-12 engine rated at 568 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. Charging from 0 to 62 mph takes only 4.1 seconds, while top speed is rated at 183 mph.
